Argentina – Bahia Blanca celebrates the Italian language

Bahia Blanca has been celebrating the Italian language and culture. Students following Italian courses organised stands at the city’s recent cultural festival to illustrate their work during the academic year. Over 40% of Bahia Blanca’s 300,000-plus inhabitants are Italian, including the mayor, Gustavo Bevilacqua and the archbishop, Guglielmo Garlatti.
 
The initiative was supported by our Consulate General in the city and is just one of the activities implemented by the Farnesina’s diplomatic network to promote Italian. In terms of language studies, Italian is the world’s 4th most-studied, a point reiterated at the recent States General of the Italian Language, held in Florence in October 2014.
