Africa – Cinema and music to promote Italian culture

The Italian Cultural Institutes of Addis Ababa, Nairobi and Pretoria are the main promoters of Italian culture in Africa. Their 2014 activities are especially focused on cinema and music, with projects successfully carried out including “Jazz in Africa”, an initiative funded for years now by the Farnesina and that brings some of the best Italian jazz musicians to the continent’s various capitals. Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs Mario Giro presented the overall picture of those activities during the conference “Italy and Africa, between culture and ethnology” held at Rome’s Villa Madama in the presence of Senegalese president Macki Sall.
