Italy-U.S.: Kerry applauds Italian EU Presidency

United States Secretary of State John Kerry hosted a working lunch at the American State Department for the European Ambassadors accredited in Washington. The encounter fell within the framework of the events promoted by the Italian embassy for the Italian duty presidency of the Council of  the EU.

Exchange of views on Euro-Atlantic relations

The encounter, the first in many years in this format, was promoted by Italian ambassador Claudio Bisogniero, and allowed for an in-depth exchange of views on the excellent status of transatlantic relations and on some principal international concerns.

“We are very grateful to Secretary of State Kerry for making this meeting possible today”, commented Bisogniero, “who confirmed the priority the American administration places on relations with Europe in light of the many common challenges that require close collaboration between the two shores of the Atlantic, in addition to applauding our government’s handling of the rotating Presidency of the Council of the EU”.
