Guatemala: issues call for tenders for new administrative district
The first call for prequalification tenders for the construction of a State Administrative Centre was issued, the necessary documentation for which can be found at: http://www.guatecompras.gt/concursos/consultaDetalleCon.aspx?nog=3708926&o=5The. The project is being commissioned by the Ministry of Public Finance and the deadline for submission of applications for prequalification has been set at 16 March 2015. The State Administrative Centre is to be built in Guatemala City’s zone 1, in the 300,000 sqm area of the former and now defunct main railway station. The 180 million-dollar DBOT (Design-Build-Operate-Transfer) contract project includes offices, utilities and underground parking garages, and accommodate between 10,000 and 12,000 employees with 4,500 parking spots. Construction is estimated to last 2 years, with the construction company maintaining operations for 20-25 years before transferring them to the government, during which time the government will pay an operations and maintenance fee to the company.
