“Hero” is a very personal interpretation of Michelangelo’s David by the architect and designer Antonio Pio Saracino, originally from Puglia but based for over a decade in New York. The work will be on display from today until 20 September 2015 in the inner courtyard of the Galleria dell’Accademia in Florence. Promoted by the Gallery in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Washington DC and PMG Italia, the exhibition sponsored by the GEM Group, which commissioned the work.
The Italian Ambassador to the United States, Claudio Bisogniero, underscored that “David is such a strong symbol of Italy’s heritage, and now a guardian of the friendship between our two countries. The year of Italian culture in the United States could not have left a better legacy”. Read more, in Italian.
