Italian Culture Week is under way in Maputo and will run until 20 June. The initiative includes piano concerts Hwith performances by DuoKeira, with Michela Chiara Borghese and Sabrina De Carlo. The “Festa do cinema italiano”, with films by directors such as Ettore Scola, Paolo Virzi’, Carlo Mazzacurati and Rocco Papaleo, will also include screenings and events for children.
The historic ties between Italy and Mozambique date from the period of the country’s struggle for independence from Portugal. Italy played a key role in the negotiations that brought an end to 16 years of civil war, with the peace agreements signed in Rome in 1992. Read more, in Italian.
