Chongqing – “Italian Enters Schools” as the Consulate donates text books

The Italian Consul General in Chongqing, Sergio Maffettone, spoke at the book donation ceremony in the city’s Renmin Primary School on March 16. “For children, studying the Italian language can pave the way towards several sectors like design, architecture, sculpture and singing: these are all fields of study in which Italian is an important and essential instrument,” he said while handing over the 500 Italian language text books donated by the Italian Consulate to the Chinese primary school, which will use them to teach Italian in the school. The event was also attended by the head of the Consulate’s Press Office, Ms Alice Giusto. The Italian Foreign Ministry considers Chongqing a “pilot project” through which to spread the teaching of the Italian language, after turning the Renmin School into the first school in China to start Italian courses under the “Italian Enters Schools” initiative. This is the reason why the Italian Government decided to donate 500 books to the Remnin School through the Italian Consulate General in Chongqing.
