Buenos Aires – Exploring law in the work of Eduardo De Filippo

Giovanni Marino, professor of the Sociology of Law and Professional Ethics at the Department of Law of the Federico II University of Naples, will be at the Italian Institute of Culture in Buenos Aires (Marcelo T. de Alvear n. 1119) tonight to present his book “Il diritto nel teatro di Eduardo” (“The Law in Eduardo’s Plays”), a journey into Eduardo’s plays, from “Napoli Milionaria” to “Filomena Marturano”. The book presentation will offer the opportunity to open a debate between the professors at the Federico II University of Naples and those of the Italian Inter-University Consortium in Argentina. Searching through philology, art and passions, Marino explores the legal vein in the work of Eduardo De Filippo, one the greatest Italian playwrights of the 20^th century, which is traditionally set in Naples and is rich in characters which have converted into real-life figures. Marino’s research effort is successful, as he finds a “human law” that is different from “human rights” such as justice and equity.
