“Primera Vanguardia” is the title of an exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC) in Santiago de Chile’s Parque Forestal. The exhibition runs until August 14, and includes 36 original futuristic manifestos owned by the Echaurren Salaris foundation as well as other manifestos, books, and documents from the Vicente Huidobro Foundation, and a series of collages by Italian artist, Pablo Echaurren, entitled “Iconoclast II”, a tribute to Futurism, owned by the Galleria d’Arte Maggiore in Bologna. The exhibition opened with a conference on June 21 by expert Caludia Salaris, who has studied Futurism and its influence on artistic expression, starting with the Echaurren Salaris Foundation. Both events were co-organised with the support of the Italian Embassy in Santiago and are part of the “Year of Italy in Latin America”, promoted by the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs with the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Tourism, the Ministry for Economic Development, the Italian Trade Agency (ICE), the Conference of Deans of Italian Universities, and with contributions by businesses. “The Year of Italy in Latin America” includes about 200 events putting the spotlight on contemporary Italy from cultural, economic, scientific, and technological viewpoints – an ambitious and complex project to enhance Italy’s identity and talents in Latin America.
