The Italian Embassy in Uganda is ‘on the road’ to promote prevention in combating tumours and AIDS. The Italian Ambassador, Domenico Fornara, led a delegation of the diplomatic mission on a 700 km biking tour organised by the Uganda Bikers Association in Gulu. The aim of the campaign is to promote the prevention of tumours and AIDS, by raising funds to allocate to NGOs active in the sector. The Italian Embassy said that the campaign represents an opportunity to meet local communities, visit schools and Lacor’s St. Mary’s Hospital which was founded in 1960 by Mr and Mrs Corti, the backbone of the Italian community in Uganda.
The Uganda Bikers Association is a non-profit organization founded in 2000 to promote motorcycling, road safety and charitable activities. Over the years, it has become particularly committed in the fight against AIDS, both in Uganda and in neighbouring countries. On this occasion, the campaign will be extended to preventing and fighting tumours.
