The show, in the former chapel of the Institute in the Portuguese capital, was opened by curator Marta Silvi and Rovaldi with a meeting and debate on the themes that have always been the focus of his work: the perception of space and landscape, explored through different media, photography, video, sculpture and drawings. In “Mattina 2016” the artist examines our emotional and physical state before going on a journey: his gaze seems to dissolve before our eyes in a series of photographs and a pile of newspaper clippings.
Rovaldi, born in Parma in 1975, studied art and photography at Naba in Milan with Hidetoshi Nagasawa and Mario Cresci and graduated in 2002. Since 2006, when he won the New York Prize at Columbia University, he has lived between Milan and New York. In 2009 he was awarded a residency at the ISCP, International Studio and Curatorial Program in Brooklyn. He has held many solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
