The Tommaso Troncon Quintet is set to fly to Albania to perform in the fifth edition of the Jazz in Albania Festival, which will take place from Tuesday, July 19, till Sunday, July 24. The group will perform on Friday in Tirana and on Saturday at the Apollonia archaeological site in Fier, 100 km south of the capital. On stage will be sax player Tommaso Troncon, vibraphone player Giovanni Perin, pianist Giulio Scaramella, double bass player Igor Spallati, and drummer Ugo Alumni. The Quintet’s concerts were organised by the Jazz in Albania Festival in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute (IIC) and the Italian National Music Committee (CIDIM), within the framework of the “Suono Italiano 2016” programme. The Quintet will perform a repertoire of original pieces ranging from traditional to contemporary jazz. Spurred by new spiritual artistic needs, Mr Troncon pushes his compositions in a direction that aims for utmost concentration and intensity in the execution, creating a group interaction underpinned by the special rapport among these extraordinary Italian musicians and fellow-adventurers.
