Next Saturday the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Orchestra conducted by Maestro Fabrizio Maria Carminati, will perform at the 31st International Symphonic Music Festival of El Jem, in Tunisia. The event, co-organized by the Italian Cultural Institute and the Italian Embassy in Tunis and the Festival organizers, promotes peace at a time in which cultural diversity and groups are often the reason or pretext for harsh conflicts or acts of terrorism.
The evocative setting of the Roman Amphitheatre of El Jem, which was included in UNESCO’s Human Heritage list in 1979, will be the stage for the performance of one of the major points of excellence of the Italian classical music scene, thus testifying to the relations between the cities of Florence and Tunis, which are already bound by a cooperation agreement aimed at promoting and reconquering the cultural role that Tunisia has always played in international tourism.
