Brazil – Italian infrastructure and energy companies take centre stage

‎Brasilia will host a two-day event (Sept. 28-29) focusing on Italian investments in Brazil’s infrastructure and energy sectors. The event, promoted by the Italian Embassy in Brazil, in conjunction with Brazil’s Ministry of Planning, Budget, and Management and its largest public bank, Banco do Brasil, will place Italian companies – some of which are world leaders in the fields of energy and construction – in direct contact with local businesses and professional associations operating in the sectors of ports, logistics and public works contractors. The aim of the meeting is to facilitate collaboration on concession and privatisation projects that the Brazilian federal government considers of primary importance and that will be the object of public tenders in the medium to long term. Italian investors will also be able to learn of opportunities to buy stakes in Brazilian companies as well as the financing options offered by the Italian Export Credit Agency (SACE) and the banking sector. The two-day event is part of an agreement between the Italian Foreign Ministry and the Brazilian Ministry of Planning, Budget, and Management designed to encourage the participation of Italian businesses in concessions and privatisations that Brazil is about to launch for public works and assets. With a view to illustrating the initiative to Italian companies wishing to invest in Brazil, on Sept. 15 the Italian Association of private construction contractors (ANCE) will host a presentation by Banco do Brasil officials on the opportunities offered by Brazil’s infrastructure and energy sectors.
