Turchey – A week of events to celebrate the Italian Language

The language of Dante will be at the centre of a rich programme of events in Turkey. The Italian Embassy in Ankara will take part in the celebrations of the 16th Italian Language week in the world (17-23 October) focusing on “L’Italiano e la creatività: marchi, costumi, moda e design.” In cooperation with the Embassy of Switzerland in Turkey, the Universities of Ankara, Baskent and Gazi and MUMIT, Museo del marchio italiano, the Italian Embassy organized many initiatives with a view to promoting the Italian language as a great language of classical and contemporary culture. The programme, highlighting the Italian creativity in different sectors, will feature lectures by designer Giulio Cappellini and architect Fabio Reinhart, seminars on Italian language and literature, an exhibition illustrating the evolution of some of the brands from MMUIT,the screening of feature and documentary films by young Italian directors. Food will also be part of the celebrations with a workshop held by chef Daniel Evangelista. As is customary, there will be a concert by Chiara Mainese, mezzo-soprano, and Berkan Akinci, baritone, with the Orkestra Akademik Basken conducted by Maestro Orhun Orhon. Italian Ambassador Luigi Mattiolo will open the Week’s celebrations on 17 October at 10:30 am at the Ankara University European Research Centre  (ATAUM).
