Twelve students in four different disciplines (ceramics, packaging, metal and steel works and plastics) of Mexico’s Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Nuevo León and the Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla (UPAEP), accompanied by four of their teachers, have been selected for the Italian Technology Award. After the ceremony, they will go to Italy for a week’s full immersion in Italy’s technology and history, attending workshops, visits to companies and presentations by industrial districts. The Italian Technology Award is a contest promoted by the ICE-Agency for the internationalisation of Italian companies and their promotion abroad, 15 associations of machinery manufacturers and Federmacchine, with the support of the Italian Foreign Ministry and its diplomatic network and in conjunction with local trade organisations and universities. The aim is to establish ties with young graduates and undergraduates of engineering departments and the engineers of the future and with the heads of procurement and production in foreign companies. The Award is promoted in several countries with a view to highlighting the image of Italy’s technological excellence and was launched in Mexico in 2008.
