A Thousand Wonders. A Journey to Discover Italy” premiered in Arabic at the Sharjah International Book Fair, where Italy is the Guest of Honor

A new Arabic-language edition of the book “A Thousand Wonders. A journey to Discover Italy” starring Geronimo Stilton – the mouse journalist most loved by children all over the world and the brainchild of Elisabetta Dami – will be presented today at the 41st edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair, United Arab Emirates (2-13 November, 2022), the largest literary fair in the Arab world in which Italy participates as Guest of Honor.

The new Arabic-language edition follows the Italian, French, Spanish and English versions and the more recent Portuguese, Bulgarian, Chinese and Ukrainian translations, which have been made possible also thanks to the support of the network of Italian Embassies, Consulates and Italian Cultural Institutes abroad. The Arabic translation was curated by the Italian Embassy in Baghdad and published by Edizioni PIEMME-Mondadori Libri in association with Atlantyca Entertainment, the company in charge of all international editions of Geronimo Stilton books, and Arab Scientific Publishers. The book will be distributed in schools and libraries in over 15 countries in the North African and Middle Eastern region, also offering young Arabic-speaking readers a chance to follow the exciting adventures of Geronimo Stilton and explore Italy accompanied by a very unique guide.

“A Thousand Wonders. A journey to Discover Italy,” is a special project pormoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in conjunction with the Italian National Commission for UNESCO, produced by Edizioni PIEMME-Mondadori Libri, with a view to introducing boys and girls from all over the world to the artistic and cultural wonders of Italy. From Rome to Venice, from the Apennines to the Alps, the friendly reporter visits the most famous monuments and places (including many that are part of UNESCO World Heritage sites), without forgetting about the hidden gems: lesser-known treasures, culinary specialties, scientific research sites, and products of craftsmanship and industry. The book presentation will also be an opportunity for young readers to meet in person with Geronimo Stilton. This feature is part of the rich and many-faceted program of Italy’s participation in the important book fair in Sharjah. This participation is made possible thanks to: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry of Culture with the Centre for Books and Reading, the Embassy of Italy in the United Arab Emirates, the Italian Cultural Institute in Abu Dhabi, ITA – Italian Trade Agency, and AIE -Italian Publishers Association.
