Australia focuses its attention on Italian contemporary art. The opening of the exhibition of the Merlatti Collection, on show at the Italian Cultural Institute in Melbourne until 10 January, was a great success. The exhibition displays the most important works in the collection of Silvano Merlatti, an Italian art collector residing in Melbourne. In opening the exhibition, Italian Consul General, Marco Cerbo, defined it as “a collection of particularly significant work by artists of international renown: photographers Francesco Jodice and Paolo Ventura, sculptors Giuseppe Bergomi and Livio Scarpella, and painters Davide La Rocca, Alessandro Verdi, Giovanni Frangi, Luca Pignatelli, Marco Petrus, Mauro Reggio, Andrea Martinelli, Roberto Coda Zabetta and Gabriele Arruzzo.” The Exhibition was enriched with a piece by Giuseppe Modica, who was present at the inauguration after exhibiting his work at the Italian Cultural Institute of Sidney and at the Embassy in Canberra.
