Ethiopia – Addis Foto Fest hosted at the Italian Cultural Institute

The Addis Foto Fest is back with six days of exhibitions, lectures, and workshops. It will be hosted in a variety of venues in the Ethiopian capital, including the Italian Cultural Institute where Simon Njami and Elena Korzhenevich, internationally famous art curators, discussed the “At Work Addis Ababa” art project.

The Addis Ababa Foto Fest was created in 2010 by award-winning photographer and contemporary artist, Aida Muluneh. The event takes place every two years, giving Addis Ababa the opportunity to host exhibitions, portfolio reviews, conferences, and screenings. It is the first and only international photographic festival held in Eastern Africa. Its 2016 edition showcased acclaimed photographers together with emerging artists from Africa, Asia, the Americas, the Middle east and Europe: 146 artists from 40 Countries from around the world, including two Italians – Salvo Bombara and Carlo Gianferro – participated in the 2016 Festival, displaying images from photojournalism, fine art photography, and archival photography.
