The truths of Sicily told through Sciascia in Paris

Leonardo Sciascia is one of the protagonists of Italian culture to whom the Italian Cultural Institute of Paris dedicates one of the first events of the new year: on 10 January a conference will be held on the Sicilian writer during which the documentary “Leonardo Sciascia – une vérité née en Sicile” will be screened. The documentary was produced in France in 1995 by Francoise Gallo, guest of the event, for the collection “A century of writers”. Novelist, story writer, critic and polemicist, but also playwright, Sciascia is known in France as one of the most prominent personalities on the cultural scene of the second half of the 20th century.

Thirty years after his death, the literary periodical “L’atelier du roman” (Pierre-Guillaume de Roux edition) dedicated its 88th issue to Sciascia with the title “The novelist in the era of corruption”: writers Francesco Forlani and Denis Wetterwald will be presenting the contents at the event.
