Farnesina to host the First Conference of Visa Offices Managers

The Farnesina is currently hosting  “La Giornata dei Visti” [Visa Day], the first conference of visa offices managers, which is being attended by the heads of the major Visa Offices of the Italian Diplomatic and Consular Network. They have been selected according to the complexity of the reality they work in (number of visas released, migration risk incidence, document forging risks, etc.). The conference session, organised by the Directorate General for Italian Citizens Abroad and Migration Policies (DGIT), is part of a broader project the Ministry has developed to promote the continuing education of the people working in this sector, at a time when the visa policy is becoming increasingly important and is gaining visibility, both as a promoter of Italy’s cultural and economic interests, and as a tool to fight against illegal migration, and enhance national security. In this respect, Italy came in second again in 2016 among Schengen countries in terms of visas released (over 1.8 million), which generated a revenue of approximately 95 million euros.
