Astana 2017: Italy will be present thanks to the coordinated effort of more than 30 public and private organisations

The first meeting of the Italian exhibitors participating in the upcoming Expo of Astana (Kazakhstan), which will run from 10 June to 10 September 2017 under the theme “Future Energy”, was held at the Farnesina on 17 February.

Italy will be present at the Kazakh International Expo thanks to the coordinated efforts of more than 30 organisations in addition to the Foreign Ministry (MAECI): the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of the Environment and of the Protection of Land and Sea; the ICE-Agenzia foreign trade agency; ENEA; the GSE electric operator; companies or groups like ENI, ENEL, IVECO/CNH Industrial, Enerco Distribuzione, Expertise/Kios, Bracco, SITIE and LCW; trade or employers’ associations such as Assolombarda and OICE; the Alessandro Volta and Milano per Expo 2015 Foundations; and, lastly, 16 Italian Regional authorities, coordinated by the Conference of Regions and the AASTER Consortium.

The Italian pavilion, which will stretch over 900 square metres (one of the largest National Pavilions of Expo Astana), was designed by the Studio ABDR architecture firm with the artistic direction of architect Stanislao Cantono di Ceva. The tour itinerary, supported by an all-surround high-resolution backdrop, will retrace Italy’s entire history and capacity to innovate in the field of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency, with a special focus on local situations and the traditional beauty of Italian landscapes.

The participants agreed to work on a programme of events (conferences, governmental or B2B meetings) to be organised in Astana in the course of the 13 weeks of the Expo, during which Italian regional authorities will be present according to a weekly rotation system. The “Grand Finale” will be on the Italian National Day scheduled for 5 September, and will also be represented by the tour of the Symphony Orchestra of Teatro alla Scala, promoted by ENI, during the last ten days of the Expo.
