#8March – The Foreign Ministry screens the true story of a Somali migrant woman to celebrate the occasion

For the 8th of March, International Women’s Day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has organised the screening of the film “Desert Flower”, distributed in Italy by the independent producer “Ahora!”.

The film tells the true story of Waris Dirie, a Somali migrant woman who became an internationally famous top model in London and the official spokeswoman for the UN’s campaign against female genital mutilation.

Through this throbbing story along the path to realisation, the Foreign Ministry aims to reaffirm its commitment in favour of women’s rights and of the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women.
