The major event celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome in Singapore was held on board of the Italian Navy’s ‘Carabiniere’ Frigate, in the city’s harbour from March 15 to 19, during a mission aiming to promote the technological excellence of the Italian defence industry. The Italian Ambassador Paolo Crudele and the European Union Ambassador, Michael Pulch, organised on March 16, a reception convening, on a deck of the ‘Carabiniere’ Frigate, 300 guests including local authorities, representatives of the entrepreneurship, members of the diplomacy and Italians residing in Singapore. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, Josephine Teo, was the special guest of the event. The Minister delivered a speech highlighting the importance of the European Union as a stable and reliable partner for the countries of South East Asia, and wishing for ever stronger relations in the future. A special exhibition titled “Ever Closer Union” was showcased during the event, which was attended by over 500 visitors.
