Italian short films take centre stage in Greece. On Monday, 24 April at 7 p.m. the Italian Cultural Institute (IIC) in Athens will host the programme “Shorts in Animation” in its Auditorium, giving the audience the opportunity to see the work of young Italian artists. The programme will screen a selection of shorts produced by Turin-based CSC Animazione, which have either been selected or awarded a prize in international short and animation festivals: they consist of graduation projects filmed by students during their third year of training. The Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (Experimental Film-making Center) of Turin set up the 3-year Animation Cinema course in 2001, under an agreement with the Regional Authority of Piedmont. Since then, it has become the Italian point of reference for young people who see animation as their means of expression and their artistic and professional future thanks to the variety of applications in different fields of art and communication. CSC Animazione has received special mention in the “Nastri d’Argento” awards of the National Union of Italian Cinema Journalists (SNGCI) in 2008 and in 2015 “for the totality of its production”. The programme includes the screening of the following short films: La Fiera sei Morti (2004), Il Naturalista (2008), Sottocasa (2010), La Danza Del Piccolo Ragno (2012), Mamma Mia (2013), Office Kingdom (2014), The Age Of Rust (2014), Pircantaturi (2015) and Cosmoetico (2015).
