On Saturday, 8 April, at 3:30 p.m., the National Diplomatic Basketball Team (Nazionale Diplomatici di Basket) will challenge the “ASD Gualdo Mia Basket team ” at the Palazzetto dello Sport “Carlo Angelo Luzi” , in Gualdo Tadino. It will be a friendly match whose proceeds will be donated to purchase sports gear for the municipal gymnasium of the city of Cascia, currently being refursbished after the damage caused by the earthquake on 24 August 2016.
The team manager of the diplomats’ basketball team, Luigi Maria Vignali, highlighted this initiative, further confirming the solidarity Farnesina wishes to express to the communities affected by the earthquake. “We wish to contribute to a quick regeneration of the towns affected by the earthquake,” said Mr Vignali. “We want to focus on sports as a universal means of participation.” The diplomatic corps team will pay a tribute to the ‘Pietro Conti Migration Museum’ in Gualdo Tadino, to underline the steady and strong commitment Italian diplomacy has in favour of Italian communities abroad.
