Tunis – Artemis Danza Company to stage ‘Traviata’ to mark the reopening of the Municipal Theatre

The Italian Cultural Institute in Tunis will present ‘Traviata,’ a performance by contemporary dance company Artemis Danza, to mark the reopening of the Municipal Theatre in the Tunisian capital. The event, to take place on 27 April from 8:00-9:00 p.m., stages the first chapter of a project the company has dedicated to Giuseppe Verdi, with a view to interpreting the maestro’s most celebrated melodramas. The company also performed ‘Rigoletto’, debuting in January 2012 in Paris at Theatre de Suresnes Jean Vilar. Finally, it was the turn of  ‘The Night Double: Aida and Tristan’ in Bologna to mark the bicentenary of the birth of Verdi and Wagner. The performance was commissioned by the Teatro Comunale of Bologna, whose Orchestra accompanied the dancers with live musical scores by Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Wagner, and elaborated upon by maestro Claudio Scannavini.
‘Traviata’s performers: Melissa Cosseta, Jessica D’angelo, Roberta De Rosa, Angela Valeria Russo, Francesca Linnea Ugolini, Emanuele Serrecchia and Filippo Stabile. Choreography by Monica Casadei.
