Ambassador Aliberti’s Mission in the Shan State

“Thanks to its natural resources and strategic location right on the border with China, the Shan State is fundamental in guaranteeing Myanmar an equitable  and sustainable socio-economic development,” said Ambassador Pier Giorgio Aliberti at the end of his mission in Taungyyi. The Ambassador’s visit was also an opportunity for him to meet with the Governor of the Shan State, who is also the President of the local parliament, the representatives of the regional political parties and the members engaged in pushing ahead the peace process currently underway in Myanmar. The talks focused on Italy’s constant commitment to support Myanmar’s democratic transition and the peace process. The Ambassador also mentioned the many projects our country has promoted and talked about new forms of collaboration to be developed in the future.
