Slovakia – Zilina to host the first exhibition dedicated to Emilio Isgrò

On 18 May, the Art Gallery of the City of Zilina will open the first exhibition in Slovakia dedicated to Emilio Isgrò, an internationally renowned painter and conceptual artist but also a poet, writer, playwright and director. Starting from the Sixties, Isgrò produced a line of work that is among the most revolutionary and original and that brought him to the Venice Biennale on four different occasions and to win a prize at the Sao Paulo Biennale. The ribbon-cutting ceremony of the exhibition will be attended by the artist, who is celebrating his 80th birthday this year.

The exhibition is organised by the Italian Cultural Institute in Bratislava in association with the Archivio Carlo Palli of Prato and proposes an exhaustive itinerary through his work, from his debut to date.

The exhibition, curated by Laura Monaldi, is organised under the patronage of the Slovak Minister of Culture Marek Madaric and of the President of the Region of Zilina Juraj Blanár, in cooperation with the Italian Embassy in Bratislava, the Archivio Isgrò of Milan and the Art Gallery of the City of Zilina. It will run until 18 June.

The event is also part of the 10th Italian Festival in Slovakia “Dolce Vitaj”.
