Finland to host “Transitions of Energy” exhibition

The group exhibition entitled “Transitions of Energy”, showcasing five artists – Flavia Bigi, casaluce/geiger & synusi@cyborg, Juliana Herrero, Sissa Micheli and Francesca Romana Pinzeri – will run until 25 June. The Kymenlaakso Museum, Maritime Centre Vellamo in Kotka, Finland, is hosting the exhibition, curated by the Italian art critic Lorella Sacco.

The artists on display live in Austria, France, Italy and Slovakia and travel across these nations, investigating changes in different forms of energy. The exhibition highlights how the energy of man and the energy of the environment interact with the flow of life in different fields. Modern society and its productive and organisational processes are almost totally dependent on energy, which is mainly harnessed at the industrial level, especially in its mechanic, electrical, chemical and thermal forms. Yet there are forms which are not included in any dictionary or encyclopedia, such as spiritual, passional and social energies, which have been driving mankind since the beginning. Through the works of the five artists, the exhibition focuses on these special energies.
