Today the Farnesina hosts the event Towards a Rome to “Welcome Chinese”, new communication and reception services for Chinese tourists, promoted to present the second edition of the “Guide through the flavours and pleasures of Rome” published by the daily La Repubblica, and translated into Chinese, dedicated to the “gusto” culinary routes and historic and artistic itineraries through the city.
The Guidebook, complete with a glossary to acquaint Chinese visitors with Italian culinary terminology and with a section listing useful telephone numbers for tourists, illustrates the highlights of the capital, making them available to an extremely vast and quickly expanding market like the one in China, which last year originated the fourth-largest number of visitors to Italy.
The presentation event will include comments by the Director General for Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Italy, the President of the Regional Council of Lazio, the Councillor for Economic Development, Tourism and Labour of the Municipal Council of Rome, representatives of the MIBACT, the Director of Guidebooks of La Repubblica, the Director of ENIT and business people involved in daily commercial dealings between Italy and China.
A contribution shall also be made by representatives of Aeroporti di Roma (AdR) which, in addition to being La Repubblica’s partner in the publication of the “Guide through the flavours and pleasures of Rome”, will also present the Wechat Project through its Chief Commercial Officer.
AdR is one of the few airports to have an official profile on Chinese social media, which offers the Roman airport the opportunity to promote Fiumicino, and consequently Rome and Italy, as a final destination thanks to the hoc services provided to visitors from the Far East.
