Bosnia Herzegovina, the Month of Italian Culture kicks off

The Month of Italian Culture kicks off in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The event, which opened with a concert by Vinicio Capossela, this year will offer to local audiences an array of important Italian artists in the fields of pop music, dance, theatre, jazz and classical music, in addition to Italian language and literature. The event is organised by the Italian Embassy in Sarajevo in conjunction with numerous local and institutional partners, including the National Theatres of Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Mostar and Tuzla, the Municipalities of Sarajevo and Tuzla, the MESS International Theatre Festival, the JAZZ FEST, the Pero Živodraga Živanovića International Literature Festival, the Dante Alighieri Society and the students of Italian studies at the Universities of Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Mostar. Caposella’s concert will be followed by a performance by the MOTUS dance company of Siena and the Italian Embassy will organise the Pero Živodraga Živanovića International Literature Festival in Zenica. The Festival is promoted by Emir Sokolović, one of the most renowned Bosnian authors in Italy, and it will be attended by 15 Italian writers. The Festival will continue with the performance of the “Il Pifferaio Magico” and “Il Trovatore“ by the Milan-based Carlo Colla e Figli puppet company, and  Francesco Martinelli, an Italian jazz scholar and the author of the Encyclopaedia of Jazz, who will be present at the JAZZ FEST of Sarajevo, one of the most important jazz festivals in the world. The Month will close on 28 November with a concert by the Orchestra Internazionale d’Italia Ensemble at the Palace of the Armed Forces of Bosnia-Herzegovina. The concert will present a repertoire of baroque music, followed by a suite of sound tracks from the most popular cinema hits written by important Italian composers.
