A concert featuring opera arias sung by young Italian and Russian talents will be held tonight at the Residence of the Italian Ambassador in Moscow. The twelve young singers involved in tonight’s event have participated in the scholarship programme promoted by the Italian Embassy with the support of philanthropist David Jakobashvili. More than seventy artists have taken part in youth exchange programmes since 2015, when the initiative was launched. The exchange programme involves the most prestigious music academies and conservatories in Russia and Italy, including the Bolshoi Theatre, the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, the Gnessin Academy, the Mikhailovsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg, the Accademia di arte lirica di Osimo, the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala, and the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
During the event, the insignia of the Order of the Star of Italy will be awarded to Maestro Vladimir Vasiliev, principal dancer for more than 30 years and General Artistic Director of the Bolshoi Theatre, who has worked for numerous Italian theatres throughout his career, contributing to consolidate the cultural relations between Russia and Italy in the field of ballet dancing.
