The Farnesina organises an event to promote gender equality at Piazza del Popolo in Rome on 25 May
Raising awareness among the European public, and especially young people, about the commitment by the European Union and its 27 member countries to promote gender equality, with special regard to development projects carried out in partner Countries.
This is the aim of the “HerWorldOurWorld” event on 25 May, promoted by the European Commission and organised by the Foreign Ministry in association with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation. The event will take place on the same day in the capitals of the member countries taking part.
“HerWorldOurWorld” will be held between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. at a stand in the Piazza del Popolo in Rome, where gender equality will be discussed. Participants will be made aware about it with the help of audiovisual displays, IT material and a host of different activities. Journalist Tiziana Ferrario will be providing a testimonial of the event. The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), Elisabetta Belloni, MAECI Director General of Development Cooperation, Giorgio Marrapodi, and the Director at the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, Lorenzo Carmenati, are scheduled to participate at the event.
To promote the event, which will be staged at Piazza del Popolo because it can accommodate a very large number of people, a joint European campaign was started on 11 May. News has been posted on the platforms of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Directorate General of Development Cooperation, as well as on those of the other participating EU countries.
