“I had a very constructive and fruitful talk with my fellow colleague, Vargas Maldonado, during his visit to Rome at the Italian-Latin America Institute for the high-level meeting on education at the Forum Italy-SICA, the Central American Integration System, currently chaired by the Dominican Republic. Relations between Italy and the Dominican Republic are historical and strong and founded on fruitful political dialogue. It is with much conviction that I decided to reopen the Italian Embassy in Santo Domingo in February 2017.
In this connection, we are very interested in promoting stronger cooperation in the economic field – especially in the energy and water sectors – and in security and the fight against organised crime,” said Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, after meeting today the Dominican Minister of Foreign Affairs, Miguel Octavio Vargas Maldonado.
