The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, will participate today in the final day of the Pre-Food Systems Summit, which has been taking place since 26 July at the Rome headquarters of FAO. The Pre-Summit is a substantive preparation for the Food Systems Summit that UN Secretary-General Guterres has convened for the Ministerial Week of the 76th General Assembly in September.
Today’s session will feature a number of Ministers from countries ready to formulate commitments to the Summit’s objectives, as well as key representatives of the non-state actors who participated in the preparatory process. This will be followed by the UN Deputy Secretary-General, Amina J. Mohammed, who will read out the Closing Statement, while Minister Di Maio will deliver a closing address.
Before the closing session, at 14:00, the Foreign Minister and DSG Mohammed will make statements to the press that can be followed by representatives of the media at www.esteri.it and live on RAI 1.
