On 11 and 12 December the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, is taking part in the second G7 Foreign and Development Ministers’ Meeting in Liverpool, under the British presidency. The Development Ministers are also expected to participate, beginning from the afternoon of 11 December. Representing Italy is Deputy Foreign Minister Marina Sereni.
The G7 Foreign and Development Ministers’ Meeting is divided into working sessions dedicated to some of the main issues pertaining to geopolitical current events and international security, including Russia, Ukraine, the Western Balkans, and China. The G7 ministers will also discuss Afghanistan, Iran, and North Korea. Wide-ranging discussions on economic partnership and financing for development are planned for the joint Foreign & Development sessions, which begin this afternoon.
Finally, tomorrow, the G7 ministers will discuss vaccines, global health security, and issues related to gender equality, the promotion and protection of women’s rights, and the empowerment of women.
A number of bilateral meetings are also planned with the other Foreign Ministers who are in attendance
