XVII edition of the States General of Diplomacy

The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, open at the Farnesina the XVII edition of the “States General of Diplomacy”, the Conference of Italian Ambassadors in the world, an event to discuss Italy’s international action, with the participation of over 150 heads of Italian diplomatic missions abroad and numerous Government Ministers. 

The Conference, organised with the media partnership of RAI news and ANSA, will be an opportunity to address the current international scenarios; cyber security and hybrid threats; the projection of Italian know-how in the world through research, science, energy and culture; the new European legislature; the promotion of exports and the internationalisation of companies.

 

Monday 16 December – Farnesina, Italian Foreign Ministry 

10:00 a.m.: family photo. 

10:30 a.m.: inaugural session with speeches by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani (RAI AND OFFICIALS ONLY). 

11:30 a.m.: first session on the theme “Peace and negotiations. International scenarios”, with speeches by Minister Antonio Tajani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, Ignazio Cassis and the Director General of the IAEA, Rafael Mariano Grossi. 

2:00 p.m.: second session on “cyber security, hybrid threats, artificial intelligence” with speeches by Minister Antonio Tajani, Minister of Defence Guido Crosetto, and the Undersecretary of State to the Prime Minister and Delegated Authority for the Security of the Republic, Alfredo Mantovano. 

4:00 p.m.: third session on “The projection of Italian know-how in the world: research, science, energy and culture”, with speeches by Minister Antonio Tajani, the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, the Minister of University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini and the Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara (via video link). 

5:00 p.m.: fourth session on “New European legislature: challenges and opportunities”, with speeches by Minister Antonio Tajani and the Minister for European Affairs, NRRP and Cohesion Policy, Tommaso Foti.

5:30 p.m.: closing session with the speech of the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni (video message).
