Minister Terzi meets with a delegation of the Columbus Citizens Foundation

Minister for Foreign Affairs Giulio Terzi met at the foreign ministry in Rome today with a delegation of the Columbus Citizens Foundation led by President Frank Guarini and Chairman Louis Tallarini.

The delegation is on a visit to Italy to introduce a series of initiatives in support of the earthquake-devastated city of l’Aquila. The foundation will present the city’s mayor with a mobile police station, set up a scholarship fund for students of the region and erect a sculpture by American artist Greg Wyatt depicting an eagle: symbol of freedom, nobility and pride.

Minister Terzi, who has long been acquainted with the Columbus Citizens Foundation, thanked its representatives for its ceaseless commitment to the community devastated by the tragic earthquake of 2009. “This is a gesture”, the minister commented, “of great humanity that bears witness to the solid bonds that unite the Italo-American community with our country”. “Further proof”, the minister continued, “that the historic friendship between Italy and the United States is founded not only on alliances between governments but also on strong ties between their respective peoples”.
