Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi received the Israeli Minister for Science and Technology, Daniel Hershkowitz, at the foreign ministry in Rome today. Italy is Israel’s leading scientific partner in Europe and the second at the global level, after the United States. The meeting enabled the two ministers to intensify the already excellent level of cooperation between Italy and Israel, especially in the sphere of scientific and technological research.
The implementation of the bilateral agreement on Industrial, Technological and Scientific Cooperation that has been in place since 2002 was a key topic of discussion, in the run-up to the Italian-Israeli bilateral summit. In this sphere, the two countries lay an special emphasis on the highly important role of the private sector in driving research and in the practical use of scientific and technological advances.
