Minister for Foreign Affairs Giulio Terzi issued a statement from the UN in New York on the occasion of the 20° anniversary of the Capaci killings.
“Giovanni Falcone is a hero in the struggle against organised crime on Italian soil and beyond and through international collaboration.
Honoring the memory of Giovanni Falcone, Francesca Morvillo and the police officers who lost their lives in the savage attack 20 years ago at Capaci, assumes even greater and more symbolic significance here in the UN building and in the United States, where the memory and legacy of Giovanni Falcone’s efforts live on in the minds of the many officials and judges with whom he collaborated against the mafia and all its various international ramifications”.
