Press release detail

Solidarity on behalf of the victims of the violent Gaddafi regime in Libya continues within the framework of the Tripoli Declaration, with Italian hospitals providing for the specialized treatment of 1500 wounded Libyans. The effort is being coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health and the Region of Lazio.

The first of these patients having been hospitalised one month ago at Rome’s San Camillo- Forlanini Hospital, a new medical mission took place in recent days in Tripoli run by the Region of Lazio, which is responsible for hosting the Libyans. The mission was led by Prof. Aldo Morrone and examined over 150 wounded Libyan citizens, including a large number of children.

The delegation was also received by Libyan Minister for Health Fatima Hamroush, who expressed her warm gratitude and underscored the importance of health cooperation with Italy. Minister Hamroush also expressed her deep appreciation to San Camillo Hospital in Rome, which has set up a special pavilion for treating the wounded Libyans.
