“We feel it is vital to engage in dialogue with Iran on issues for concrete collaboration and today’s meeting reflects the encouraging developments arising from the election of President Rohani”. This was the comment of the Foreign Ministry’s Secretary General, Michele Valensise, as he welcomed the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Director General for Consular Affairs, Seyed Hossein Mir Fakhar, in Rome for technical consultations on consular matters.
During the subsequent meeting with the Director General for Italians Abroad and Migration Policies, Cristina Ravaglia, the two delegations also discussed consular questions, especially those connected with cultural, education and tourism exchanges. They also examined the laws and regulations governing entry visas.
The Iranian diplomat and his delegation also visited the Farnesina’s Crisis Unit and were given useful information on its operations.
