Deputy Foreign Minister Marta Dassù met today in Yangon with leader of the Burmese opposition Aung San Suu Kyi, with whom she discussed the democratic transition under way in Burma, which Italy continues to support.
Marta Dassù also passed on Minister for Foreign Affairs Emma Bonino’s invitation to participate on the International Board for Women for Expo 2015, to which Suu Kyi responsed positively.
In the margins of the Deauville International Forum under way in Yangon, Marta Dassu’ also met with Deputy Minister for Culture of Myanmar Sandar Khin, to whom she confirmed Italy’s pledge to support the UNESCO project for the conservation of Burmese cultural and archaeological heritage.
