Minister for Foreign Affairs Mogherini will make a mission to Chile and Colombia from 5 to 7 August. She will be received in Santiago by President Michelle Bachelet, meet with foreign minister Heraldo Muñoz and speak to ECLAC, the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America (Spanish acronym CEPAL).
Minister Mogherini will then travel to Bogotà, on the first visit by an Italian foreign minister since 1993, to attend the inauguration of Juan Manuel Santos for his second term as president. The occasion will offer an opportunity to meet with the president and with foreign minister Angela Holguin, as well as the heads of state and government of other Latin American countries.
Encounters are also planned with the numerous Italian communities and Italian business persons in both countries.
