At the invitation of the Azerbaijani Government, the Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Benedetto Della Vedova, spoke today at a round table on “Challenges of Globalisation: between tradition and transformation”.
“Globalisation has a economic dimension that is clear but which must be complemented in the sphere of freedom and individual rights. Each country enters the globalisation process at its own pace and with its own specific conditions, but ‘à la carte’ globalisation does not exist. We need a lowest common denominator that applies to all, and which I believe must be the dignity of each human being, without distinction of race, religion, language, sexual orientation, culture or political opinions”, declared Della Vedova. “Only truly inclusive institutions are capable of ensuring sustainable growth and stability in the long term”, concluded Under-Secretary Della Vedova.
