The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has decided to close the Embassy of Italy in Sana’a temporarily in view of recent events and the progressive deterioration in security conditions.
The decision was taken within the framework of an international coordination effort that has led to the closing by various nations of their embassies in that country. Ambassador Galli and all embassy staff are currently making a safe return to Italy.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation expresses the hope that the efforts of United Nations Special Envoy Jamal Benomar will lead to the rapid restoration of the security conditions necessary for the diplomatic mission staff’s return to Yemen.
