Italy-San Marino: Della Vedova meets Secretary of State Valentini

The Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, Benedetto Della Vedova, met the Secretary of State of San Marino, Pasquale Valentini, at the Farnesina today, 30 March 2015. They exchanged views on key international and bilateral issues.

On the international front, they discussed the reform of the Security Council, on which they hold similar positions, and their current candidacies in the United Nations context.

At the bilateral level, they focused on the negotiations for San Marino’s Association Agreement with the EU, which formally opened in Brussels on 18 March along with those for Andorra and the Principality of Monaco. They also discussed the future Agreement’s impact on relations between San Marino and Italy.

Other bilateral topics included a review of the main projects currently under way, including collaboration in the airport sector, customs issues, the creation of a joint science and technology park and a revitalisation of direct relations between their central financial authorities.
