The Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Paolo Gentiloni, received the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, Lundeg Purevsuren, at the Farnesina today. Minister Purevsuren is visiting Italy during the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Italy and Mongolia.
The meeting was an opportunity to recall the continuous progress in all areas of bilateral relations in recent decades and to review regional and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
The two Foreign Ministers expressed their satisfaction over the excellent state of collaboration within the United Nations system. Gentiloni hoped to see the political dialogue and cultural and economic collaboration further strengthened. In the economic field, Minister Gentiloni remarked that “we hope to see increased flows of trade and reciprocal investment”. He also accepted the invitation from his Mongolian colleague to take part soon in a working visit to Mongolia.
Minister Gentiloni concluded by recalling the success of the last Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit, which was held in Milan in October 2014. He assured his guest of Italian support for the next Summit, which Ulan Bator will be hosting in 2016.
