Gentiloni: increase diplomatic commitment on behalf of accord in Libya

“We must increase our diplomatic commitment on behalf of accord amongst the parties in Libya”. This was the message Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Paolo Gentiloni sent out to his various colleagues and other members of the audience, including UN Special Envoy for Libya Martin Kobler and Algerian Minister for Maghreb Affairs Abdelkader Messahel, who will host the summit of African countries bordering on Libya tomorrow in Algiers.

“A government of national accord based on the UN’s proposal is the prerequisite for fighting the threat of the spread of Daesh in Libya”, the minister added. Gentiloni will also be discussing this tomorrow in his bilateral meeting with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry in the sidelines of the Nato Ministerial Summit in Brussels.
